Pre-season Half Over

(March 17, 2011)

With four good practices under our belts, and four more to go before the season starts on April 2, I’m already happy with the improvements I’ve seen.  Please remember that the players need to arrive BEFORE practice starts, both for their own sake and the rest of the team - it is not fair to them that I have to stop coaching and explain things over and over every time someone arrives late.

The Club has released the game schedule for this season, which will always be available here on the website, but as always it is subject to change - you need to keep re-checking the wesbite from week to week.

As I mentioned earlier, as the sunlight lasts longer, evening practices will be pushing back to a start time of 6:30 pm.  I am going to start that on March 28.  As I also mentioned, the Club will be providing optional professional training for all individuals who are interested, on Monday nights on Fields 6 or 7.   There will be four sessions at 5:30 and four at 6:30.    For the former, we’ll simply begin practice as scheduled at 6:30 and the girls can come right over to Field 4 where I’ll be waiting for them.   For the latter though, we will need to either (a) start practices at 7:30 or (b) shift them to Thursday nights.   I’d prefer to keep them on Monday nights at 7:30, but if people cannot make that, let me know.   As soon as the Club publishes that training schedule, I will let you know which four nights we are talking about.

Lastly, I think it’s OK for me to wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick’s Day.   After all - Dublin, Wexford, Waterford, Cork and Limerick were all founded by the Vikings.
