Not even the sweltering heat could take away the smiles on the faces of the team and the fans on Sunday when the Dynamo took the Hershey Invitational Tournament Championship by beating Toms River 3-0. This was the team’s second tournament victory this season.
The first game was against Parsippany. The passing was sharp as the boys played aggressively. Their determination showed in the final 4-1 score. In the second game a few hours later, the Dynamo had a near perfect performance with a victory over Chantilly, VA 6-0.
After learning that they had earned a bye into the championship game, the team and their families enjoyed a barbecue, Hershey park, and other activities later that day. On Sunday we learned that our opponent would be Toms River and it would be played in a full-sided indoor field.
The Dynamo came out strong with tight teamwork and went up 3-0 by halftime. The second half was a defensive battle culminating in a beautiful PK save by Chewy. The Dynamo outscored their opponents 13-1 for the tournament. Amani, Sahil, Brandon, and Chewy all received game honors. But this was the most complete team effort of the season. Everyone played a critical role.
Congratulations to Amani Alexander, Andrew Yager, Benny Rosen, Brandon Withum, Jason Levine, Matt Mischler, Matt Pietrzyk, Matt Taffet, Patrick Pinho, Ryan Farrell, Ryan Flynn, Ryan Stelicos, Sahil Patel, Coach Gary Taffet and Coach Gumy Pinho on a thrilling tournament. Also congratulations to Gabriel Charney, Connor Torrelio, John Bognar, and Coach Jason Charney, who also were key in the team’s very successful season, but were not at the Hershey tournament.
