Welcome to EBSC Futures Soccer

EBSC's soccer program for our youngest players where skill development meets fun!

EBSC Futures Program

The Futures division is designed for players U3 – U7 and focuses on following standards set forth by U.S. Soccer Player Development Initiatives put into place in 2017. In this age range, the programs focus on developing skills and abilities in our young players, building and growing their comfort with the soccer ball. Success requires a long-term approach and commitment to player’s growth. At this stage, individual development, introduction to a team environment and a fun soccer experience is the priority. At EBSC, the Futures program is where relationships with players, parents and families are built and developed as you progress through our club!

Tiny Tykes (U3 - U4)

The Tiny Tykes program is for East Brunswick’s youngest players, and is an introduction to the game of soccer. Our training partners, Challenger Sports, coordinate this age group and program.  For Spring 2024, this division is for players born in 2021 and 2020.  The program is designed to focus on an initial introduction to soccer and developing gross motor skills along with basic individual soccer skills. Training occurs once per week on Saturday mornings. The Tiny Tykes training environment allows the kids to have fun and learn how enjoyable the game of soccer is!  You can register for Tiny Tykes at this link:  Challenger Sports-East Brunswick Soccer Registration.

Superstars (U5 and U6)

The Superstars programs are for our U5 (Junior Superstars) and U6 (Senior Superstars) aged players.  For Spring 2024, this includes players born in 2019 and 2018 respectively.  Along with our Challenger Sports partners, parent volunteer coaches will conduct weekly training sessions on Saturday mornings. These age groups focus on skills with and without the soccer ball as well as developing movement and coordination. The focus is on the individual player and getting many touches on the ball during the training session. Ultimately, the objective is to have FUN while playing the game of soccer.

Development Program (U7)

Our U7 group is also geared towards player development, and ball mastery will be the main focus for these players.  For the Spring 2024 season, this age group includes all players born in 2017.  Rules of the game and basic soccer principles will be introduced as team play becomes more of a focus. The U7 age group will have a weekly small-sided game, in addition to a weekly training session with their coaches and our Challenger Sports training partners. Games are typically on Saturdays and will be coached by parent volunteers. The U7 games are played as follows:

  • Players: 4v4 (no goalkeepers)
  • Time: 4 quarters of 10 minutes each
  • Fields: small-sided
  • Ball: size 3
  • Substitutions: at any stoppage of play
  • Referees: none
  • Coaches: one coach per team permitted on field with players
  • Offside Rule: not enforced
  • Restarts:  players start to learn kick-offs, throw-ins, goal kicks and corner kick restarts.

Advanced Training Program (U6 and U7)

EBSC also provides an advanced training program for players that are determined to be appropriate for a more competitive level of play.  Coaches and trainers will identify players that are appropriate for this atmosphere during the course of the season.  The advanced training is offered to players in the U6 and U7 age groups and includes an additional weeknight training session.  There is no additional cost for this program.  These opportunities are designed with the advanced player in mind and will better prepare them for travel level soccer which begins at the U8 age level. This program can include tournaments, festivals and scrimmages in a more competitive environment in and around central New Jersey.
